Waverly's elected City Council includes the Mayor and four council members.  The Mayor is elected for a two-year term, council members serve four-year staggered terms.   Elections for City Council are held in November of even numbered years.  The Mayor is paid a flat $100 per month and Council members receive a flat $75 per month.  

 

Council Appointments:    In addition to serving on the Council, each member takes on additional assignments with appointments made annually in January.  Currently,  Keith Harris serves on the Planning and Zoning Commission;  Connie Holmes and Ken Antil are members of the Economic Development Authority;  Ben Duske  is on the Parks Commission;  Ben Duske is Emergency Preparedness Director,  Connie Holmes is the Weed Inspector.  Ben Duske serves as Acting Mayor and Ken Antil is the Alternate Acting Mayor.  Connie Holmes, Keith Harris and Ben Duske serve on the HLWW School Liaison Committee, Connie Holmes, Ben Duske and Ken Antil (Alternate) are on the Montrose Wastewater Committee.  

 

All council members serve on the Budget, Personnel, Liquor Control and Fire Committees.

 

The Council meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm at Waverly City Hall, 502 Atlantic Avenue.  Special meetings, including budget meetings, are posted on the bulletin board outside City Hall and on this web site as called.  All residents are encouraged to attend and make their thoughts known during the meeting.  Meeting Agendas and Minutes are available on line.
